Twitter has added a new monetization option to its platform. It’s called Super Follows, and it’ll let authors charge their fans for exclusive material. Yesterday, the feature was given out to a select set of creators. According to Twitter, the availability will be expanded in the next weeks. Twitter has been accepting applications for this feature since June.
Creators can now charge their followers a monthly fee of $2.99, $4.99, or $9.99 to have access to tweets that are only visible to paid users. Initially limited to tweets, the feature will be gradually expanded to include Spaces and newsletters. The feature’s limited availability may be due to the fact that it’s now just available for tweets. Some of the creators given this feature are @MakeupforWOC, @myeshachou, and @KingJosiah54. All these creators specialize in a particular area. So, users who are interested in these topics or fans of these creators can opt for a paid subscription. It will allow them to directly interact with the creators on a comparatively more private platform. It will help in cases in which you look for personalized advice. There is also another side to this feature. Users are used to getting such content for free. Charging them for the same might look like a little difficult feature, to begin with.
Twitter introduced Super Follows as a method to make its platform more suitable for creators. It has also added a monetization feature in Spaces recently. It will allow creators to sell tickets to audio chats on the platform.
