Challenges going viral is not a new thing. Some challenges were taken up by people all over the world like the “ice bucket challenge”. But what if it concerns the safety of the individual. “Milk crate challenge” is a challenge that became viral recently. The challenge saw people arranging milk crates to form a pyramid and then trying to climb to its top. This challenge is extremely dangerous as it could seriously injure the individual while trying to climb up the unstable structure. Therefore, TikTok has banned people from attempting the challenge on its platform.

TikTok added that it will not promote any content that is seemingly dangerous for its users. Such videos and content will be removed from its platform according to its Community Guidelines. The company stated that people should not indulge in such acts of daring, whether it is online or offline.

In the videos that users uploaded following the trend, users were seen tumbling down to the ground while attempting the challenge. It caught the attention of many healthcare workers, who then took to social media their concerns over this trend, and the dangers behind it. TikTok’s ban had made such videos disappear. If you search for the trend now on the platform it will show “no results found”. It also adds a warning that the trend’s hashtag may denote something that violates their guidelines. It also added that the platform looks for “a safe and positive experience” for the users. But some users are getting access to videos of the trend if they type incorrect spellings like “milk craate” or “milk cratee.” These videos seem to have been left out because of some mistakes with the ban.

Such dangerous challenges have surfaced on the platform earlier too. Challenges like “throw it in the air” and “skull-breaker” had seen many casualties. These had made the platform more responsible for preventing its users from doing such dangerous and harmful actions.
