Samsung’s Unpacked event featured its smartwatches which will have a Wear OS platform. Made together with Google, Samsung is making it a better option in the smartwatch market. With Samsung’s launch, other app developers are also trying to explore the platform with new features. Spotify will be the first of the lot to announce a new feature in this regard. The platform will enable a download feature for its Wear OS app.

Most smartwatch users don’t use their wearable to play music. But in case a situation arises where you don’t have your phone near you or you have to leave the phone at home, then you can use the smartwatch to play music. This might happen during your daily jogging and exercise too. There will be times when you look for favourite playlists and podcasts on your smartwatches like these. This won’t be a problem if you have an internet connection on the smartwatch or have downloaded files on the device. Now Spotify will allow you to play music from its streaming platform without having to connect to the internet.

Spotify is planning an update where it will enable download files to the Wear OS smartwatches for offline availability. The files can be downloaded from the smartwatch itself and do not necessarily require a smartphone. The new feature will also cover Spotify podcasts. The usual limits are set here too and only Premium subscribers can take the benefit of this download feature. Free users can possibly download podcasts while streaming music requires an active internet connection. The update is supposed to be available soon and will have support in all Wear OS smartwatches and not just Galaxy Watch 4.
