South Korean tech giant Samsung has teamed up with Illuvium, a popular blockchain-based role-playing game, to promote its Web3 TVs. This collaboration marks Samsung’s latest effort to tap into the growing Web3 market and attract younger, tech-savvy consumers.

The partnership will be officially unveiled at Gamescom 2024 in Sydney, a major gaming convention. Illuvium expressed excitement about the collaboration, highlighting how Samsung’s Web3 TVs offer a unique way to experience the game’s world.

“With Samsung Web3 TVs, you can experience the expansive Illuvium universe in your living room,” Illuvium stated. “Stunning clarity on these big screens brings your in-game creations to life like never before.”

Bringing NFTs to the Living Room

This partnership goes beyond just displaying the game. It aims to transform the traditional TV experience into a platform for showcasing digital collectibles. NFTs acquired in Illuvium will be viewable on Samsung’s Web3 TVs, further integrating them into the game’s ecosystem.

“As part of Samsung’s TX1 campaign,” Illuvium noted, “we are one of only two gaming partners chosen for this initiative.” Users can participate in the campaign and unlock exclusive NFTs, including limited edition pieces from Illuvium.

Samsung’s Longstanding Web3 Push

This partnership is not Samsung’s first foray into the Web3 space. Since 2019, the company has been actively exploring Web3 technologies. They launched the Samsung Blockchain Wallet App, partnered with Crypto.com for asset trading services on Galaxy devices, and collaborated with other Web3 players like Wilder World, Theta Labs, and Nifty Gateway.

“We’re embracing decentralization, blockchain technology, and cryptographic security to reimagine online encounters within the trusted Samsung Ecosystem,” Samsung stated about its Web3 initiatives.

Looking Ahead

This partnership signals Samsung’s continued commitment to Web3 and its potential to revolutionize entertainment experiences. It will be interesting to see how this collaboration evolves and how it shapes the future of both televisions and video games.
