Samsung is reportedly working on a new stand-alone Gear smartwatch. According to the Korea Herald, the company’s fourth Gear smartwatch will feature an embedded SIM, which means that it will be able to make and receive phone calls without syncing to a fully fledged smartphone. The Korean Intellectual Property Office told the paper that the device will be named Gear Solo. The report also indicates that Samsung has partnered with SK Telecom in Korea to launch the Gear Solo with the operator, however the company might also launch the device in other countries later on. Samsung has refused to comment on the report, saying that it didn’t want to comment on “rumors or speculation.”
