Pokémon fans in India and worldwide can now pre-order the highly anticipated title Pokémon Legends: Z-A, the successor to the 2022 hit Pokémon Legends: Arceus. The game is set for release on October 16, 2025, and offers versions for both the current Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Switch 2 console.

Gamers can purchase the digital edition of Pokémon Legends: Z-A for $60 (approx. ₹5,000) for the original Switch and $70 (approx. ₹5,800) for the enhanced Switch 2 version. If you plan to upgrade to the new console later, Nintendo offers a $10 (₹830) upgrade pack, giving players access to improved graphics and smoother performance on the Switch 2 without repurchasing the game.

Pre-ordering allows players to pre-load the game, ensuring instant access the moment it’s released.

A New Chapter in the Pokémon Universe

Pokémon Legends: Z-A isn’t just a continuation of Legends: Arceus—it also serves as a direct sequel to Pokémon X and Y. The game is set in Lumiose City, a fan-favourite location originally introduced over a decade ago, and blends the real-time capturing system from Arceus with the classic turn-based battle mechanics of earlier Pokémon titles.

Players will be able to choose from three iconic starter Pokémon:

  • Chikorita (from Gold and Silver)
  • Totodile (from Gold and Silver)
  • Tepig (from Black and White)

A key gameplay feature making a return is Mega Evolution, a popular mechanic from the X and Y era. It allows Pokémon to temporarily evolve into more powerful forms with enhanced abilities and, in some cases, new elemental types—adding another strategic layer to battles.

Physical Editions and Retail Availability

For collectors and physical game enthusiasts, the boxed version of Pokémon Legends: Z-A is also available for pre-order through international retailers such as Walmart and Best Buy, with listings for both console versions. While official bonus details haven’t been confirmed, Walmart’s website hints at an “exclusive gift” for those who pre-order the physical copy.

For Indian gamers, it’s worth keeping an eye on local gaming platforms and international retailers that ship to India, as Switch titles often become available through sites like Amazon India, Games The Shop, or Mcube Games closer to launch.
