Parallels Desktop 17 is allowing users to experience Windows 11 in a window on their Mac desktop. Parallels will support Intel and M1 Macs and will even allow Windows 11 preview. Users will only be able to emulate Arm-based operating systems. This denotes that it will be restricted to Windows on Arm. So, it is advised that users should be cautious of the possible caveats. Windows on Arm’s x86 was not so safe and the x64 app emulation is still in progress. Therefore, running a virtualized version of Windows on M1 will have the same aftereffects as running Windows on any other Arm machine.

Even though M1 users will have to deal with windows on Arm, there will be some performance improvements from that of Parallels 16. Parallels confirms that the new version will deliver 28 percent better DirectX 11 performance and 33 percent faster start times for Windows 10 on Arm Insider Preview VMs. It will also have 25 percent faster 2D graphics and up to 6 times faster OpenGL performance. Because of a virtualized TPM, M1 users will also be able to have BitLocker and Secure Boot.

Parallels 17 will also be supporting macOS Monterey. It will be able to run on macOS 12 computers. The regular Parallels Desktop 17 will have a subscription rate of $79.99 for a year or a lifetime license at $99.99. Any previous perpetual licenses of earlier Parallels versions can be updated to Parallels 17 for $49.99. it will be available on the Parallels website.
