Ola Electric unveiled its latest lineup of electric two-wheelers, known as the Roadster series, at the Sankalp 2024 event in India on August 15. Held at the company’s new FutureFactory in Tamil Nadu, the event showcased three new electric bikes: Roadster Pro, Roadster X, and Roadster. The Roadster Pro, which is focused on premium performance, comes with a price tag of Rs. 2 lakh. Ola Electric also introduced entry-level EV bikes for customers seeking a more budget-friendly option compared to the premium Roadster Pro.

All the electric bikes in the series offer multiple battery pack options. Alongside the new two-wheelers, Ola also shared updates about MoveOS 5, the latest battery technologies, and Krutrim – its conversational AI chatbot.

The pricing for the Roadster series in India starts at Rs. 74,999 for the entry-level Roadster X, which offers 2.5kWh, 3.5kWh, and 4.5kWh battery options. The Roadster, priced at Rs. 1,04,999 for the 3.5kWh battery pack, also provides higher variants with 4.5kWh and 6kWh battery capacities. Pre-bookings for both Roadster X and Roadster are now open, and deliveries are set to commence in January 2025.

On the other hand, the premium offering from Ola Electric, the Roadster Pro, starts at Rs. 1,99,999 with the 8kWh battery pack, while the 16kWh battery option is priced at Rs. 2,49,999. Deliveries for the Roadster Pro in India are scheduled to start by Diwali 2025.

The Roadster Pro boasts a claimed top speed of 194 kilometers per hour (kmph) and a range of up to 579km on a single charge with the 16kWh battery pack. It features Ola Electric’s new proprietary 4680 Bharat Cell, offering five times more energy, one and a half times faster charging, and 10 percent longer range compared to traditional 2170 lithium-ion cells used in other EVs. The bike is powered by a liquid-cooled motor producing 52kW peak power and 102nm of torque, with a 0-40kmph time of 1.2 seconds.

Notable features include adaptive cruise control, a 10-inch touchscreen display, 5G connectivity, dual-disc brakes, automated heated and cooling seats, Krutrim AI chatbot capabilities, a dedicated race mode for software-enabled performance adjustment, advance driver assistance systems (ADAS), cornering ABS, traction control, and three BS modes: Race, Rain, and Urban. Additionally, it incorporates wheelie and stoppie prevention using advanced algorithms and safety features such as tamper alert and emergency SOS alerts for sharing live locations in critical situations.

The entry-level Ola Electric Roadster X comes with some impressive features, including LED headlamps, a 4.3-inch TFT display, front disc brakes, and turn-by-turn navigational capabilities. Additionally, it has inherited some features from the Ola Electric S1 Pro, like cruise control and reverse mode. With a claimed range of up to 200km and a top speed of 124kmph, this EV bike also boasts a range of safety features such as geo-fencing, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), tamper and fall-detection alert, and time-fencing.

Notably, the Ola Roadster X offers three drive modes: Eco, Normal, and Sport, with the company claiming a 0-40kmph time of 4 seconds.

Moving on to the mid-range model, the Roadster elevates the features of the Roadster X by adding a larger 6.8-inch TFT display, double-spoke alloy wheels, Krutrim voice assistant, smart park, group navigation, and a DIY mode. Equipped with an IP67-rated battery, the Roadster showcases a maximum claimed range of 248km and a top speed of 126kmph, powered by a 13kW electric motor. Similar to the top-end Roadster Pro, this model also boasts dual disk brakes and introduces a Hyper mode, bringing the total drive modes to four.

In the Indian two-wheeler EV market, the Ola Electric Roadster series is set to take on competitors such as the Tork Kratos R, Revolt RV400, Ultraviolette F77 Mach 2, and Matter Aera, depending on the model.
