At the Build conference, Microsoft has shown off Windows in the Car concept, a Windows Phone equivalent to Apple’s CarPlay. This conceptual platform would use Windows Phone’s apps and its functions to in-vehicle interfaces. It uses the connectivity standard Mirrorlink and has a car-friendly interface, which means that while running mobile apps, they get more on-screen buttons than usual to help you complete tasks faster and keep your eyes on the road. To help you further in the car, there is focus on voice commands as well and Cortana fits in perfect here. The company is testing the platform in real cars.

Mirrorlink although not widely used currently, but many companies like Volkswagen, Honda, Toyota, and Citroen are working on cars with Mirrorlink support and car radio manufacturers Alpine and Pioneer are backing it. Unfortunately, there is no clear date on when Windows in the car might reach public vehicles. Check out the video at the source link below for the Windows in the car demonstration.
