Microsoft has announced that it is buying mobile email management app startup Acompli. The deal is reportedly worth more than $200 million. Acompli developed apps for iOS and Android which prioritize your most important emails. The app allows you to schedule emails you want to return to later, manage your calendar and attach files from Google Drive, Dropbox and Microsoft’s OneDrive. The app also has predictive search feature and purports to determine the most important people who email you.

Acompli supports Microsoft Exchange, Office 365, Outlook.com and Hotmail services. Other supported services include Google Apps, Gmail, iCloud and Yahoo.

“In a world where more than half of email messages are first read on a mobile device, it’s essential to give people fantastic email experiences wherever they go. The Acompli team is passionate about this quest. Their app provides innovative ways to focus on what’s important in your inbox, to schedule meetings, and work with attachments and files,” said Microsoft vice president Rajesh Jha in a blog post. He also noted that the Acompli apps will be brought together with work currently in progress by the Outlook team.

Acompli’s Javier Soltero said on his blog that the app “will become part of Microsoft’s ambitious effort to reimagine productivity for the mobile era.”

He noted that “18 months ago we started building a team and a product around the idea that we could make mobile email better. Today that journey continues as part of a larger organization with the technology, talent, and market reach that will help us take the vision of Acompli to hundreds of millions of mobile users across the world.”

Acompli’s apps will continue to support non-Microsoft services.
