Mahindra has made a significant move by introducing the 5-door version of the Mahindra Thar, known as Thar Roxx. Priced at Rs 12.99 lakh (Ex-showroom), the Thar Roxx promises to offer a compelling package in the Indian SUV market. The longer length of the Thar Roxx allows for the inclusion of rear doors, providing easier access to the 2nd row and a substantially larger boot.

With Thar Roxx, Mahindra is bringing a brand new face. It gets new LED projector headlights. Buyers don’t have to spend on aftermarket headlights now. There is a new grill along with chunkier bumpers.

The exterior of the Thar Roxx has been updated with a fixed metal roof and new alloy wheels, along with a redesigned silhouette around the rear doors. The interior has received substantial improvements, featuring a larger 10.2-inch infotainment screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, as well as a 10.2-inch fully digital instrument TFT screen. Notable convenience features include soft-touch materials, rear AC vents, auto-dimming IRVM, keyless entry, and push-button start.

In terms of safety, the Thar Roxx is equipped with a Level-2 ADAS suite, all-four disc brakes, 6 airbags, TCS, TPMS, ESP, Crawl Smart Assist (CSA), and Intelli Turn Assist (ITA). Additionally, it offers off-road capabilities with an electronically locking rear differential.

The Thar Roxx retains the same powertrain options as its predecessor, featuring a 2.0L turbo petrol engine and two diesel engine options – a 1.5L turbo diesel and a 2.2L turbo diesel engine. Depending on the variant, the 2.0L petrol engine delivers either 160 bhp and 330 Nm or 150 bhp and 330 Nm for the 2.2L diesel engine.

Overall, the Mahindra Thar Roxx emerges as an attractively priced and well-equipped SUV, continuing Mahindra’s legacy of aggressive pricing strategies and offering a compelling option in the SUV segment.
