Leica’s T camera is an art on aluminum

Leica has launched a new interchangeable-lens camera to celebrate its 100th birthday. The finisi priced at around $1,850 (without a lens). It has a distinctly different design that is carved out of a solid brick of aluminum. The company has took the help of Audi’s design team to work on the project and the result is beautiful unibody metal camera. According to the company, each camera is finished by hand after the design is milled by a machine. The hand-polishing takes 45 minutes.

With respect to the specifications, there’s a 16-megapixel APS-C sensor, a 3.7-inch high-res touchscreen, a 12,500 top ISO, 1080p video capture, a 5 fps continuous shooting mode and a pair of top-mounted control wheels for adjusting exposure. There’s also WiFi and a new lens mount for which you will need to add on an adapter to use your M-mount glass. A silver version of the camera is expected to hit stores next month, while a black model should be available in early August.
