Instagram is developing a tool that will give users more control over the platform’s notoriously obtuse feed algorithm. Alessandro Paluzzi, a mobile developer, recently published pictures of Favorites, an in-development feature. Those graphics imply that you’ll be able to add friends, family members, and creators to a list of accounts you’d like the software to prioritize when browsing through your feed.

People have complained that since Instagram shifted from a chronological to an algorithmic feed in 2016, the app hasn’t done a good job of showing consumers the photographs and videos they want to see. In a recent blog post detailing how Instagram’s various algorithms work, Adam Mosseri, the platform’s CEO, attempted to address such concerns. When selecting how to prioritize the information it shows you, the feed algorithm now considers the popularity of a post, as well as your recent activity and history of connecting with someone.

It’s unclear whether Favorites will become an official Instagram feature. Instagram’s spokesman informed that the business is presently testing the tool internally, but gave no further specifics on when or if an external test would be conducted.
