HTC has announced the all new One (M8) smartphone. For all the Indians, you have to wait until the third week of April to actually have the device and it will support TD-LTE networks in Band 40, which means that the device will work on Airtel’s 4G network. The phone possess the same aluminium unibody as in its predecessor, but the pair of capacitive buttons have been replaced with the standard trio of Android soft keys.

Lets drill down deeper into the specifications, it features a 5-inch 1080p display with 441ppi, which is protected by the Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3. Under the hood, you will have a 2.3GHz Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor with Adreno 330 GPU, 2GB of RAM and 16/32GB of internal storage. In case the storage is not enough, there’s a microSD slot for adding up to 128GB more, plus Google is offering in 50GB of storage on Drive for two years, ditching Dropbox. There is a 2,600mAh battery that gives the juice to operate for an estimated 20 hours of talk time and 40 days of standby with the new Extreme power saving mode enabled.

The highlight of the device is Duo Camera, there is a secondary camera at the back of the device along with the UltraPixel primary camera. In true sense, the additional one is not a camera but a depth sensor, which allows the device to perform all sorts of photo effects especially during post processing, such as blurring backgrounds or changing the focus point like Lytro. The primary camera is the same 4-megapixel backside-illuminated sensor with 2µm pixels and a new imaging processor.

Apart from this, there is a front-facing stereo speaker with BoomSound. The speakers are connected to a dedicated amplifier and a powerful DSP chip; and sits at the phone’s chassis to offer a richer, louder audio with better-defined low-end sound. Connectivity options include Bluetooth 4.0, dual-band 802.11ac WiFi, AWS compatibility, LTE, NFC, an accelerometer, gyroscope and barometer.

The device is running Android KitKat 4.4 along with Sense 6.0. There is also an important feature which is worth mentioning and that is Motion Launch. This feature senses movement and listens for prompts to launch apps or actions. The new HTC One will be available in three colors – gunmetal gray, glacial silver and amber gold.
