Google is reportedly acquiring connected camera startup Dropcam, according to The Information. The internet giant has recently acquired Nest, the makers of thermostat and smoke/CO alarms and this acquisition if at all true will be a further push into the home security market. With Dropcam’s connected camera, users can see live feeds, zoom and record footage. It also saves its footage to the cloud, letting users to check the recordings any time and anywhere. Last year, the company announced a $30 million round of venture funding.

When Google is moving into home security, Apple is set to make its move into smart home technology, according to a report in the Financial Times. Apple will reportedly offer a platform that would turn the iPhone into a remote control for home appliances, for example control lighting, security systems, and more. Cupertino will probably announce this initiative at its Worldwide Developer Conference on June 2nd. So everything brought together we might have a more smarter and secure home in the future.
