After a year of Android and iOS apps receiving the update, Google Chat for Web and its desktop app is getting the support for Dark Mode. The support will be added to the Progressive Web App (PWA) too. In another update, Google Calendar will enable its users to add their working location. The users can add to their calendar a routine for working location weekly and can change it if it is changed. The available options for locations are “Office”, “Home”, “Unspecified”, and “Somewhere else”. The rollout was announced by Google through a blog post. The admin will have no control over this feature. The feature will be available under Settings>Theme Settings.

The Dark Mode is slowly rolling out and all users will not get their hands on it at the same time. It has been noted that it will take up to 15 days to complete the rollout. It will available to all Google Workspace customers, G Suite Basic, and Business customers.

The feature to add work locations on Google Calendar will be available from August 30. Google claims that the feature cannot be disabled at the domain or OU level. If the admin wants to disable the feature, they should do it before August 30 in the Admin console. For end-users, this will be off by default. From August 30, Google Calendar will display a dialog box with an option to enable the feature. By enabling the feature, users can notify on which days they plan to be in the office, work from home, or another location. It will allow better management of meeting schedules.

Google says that this feature will not be available to Google Workspace Essentials, Business Starter, Enterprise Essentials, Education Fundamentals, Frontline customers, and G Suite Basic customers.
