Facebook is likely to introduce a Snapchat-like video messaging service later this month. According to Financial Times, the app codenamed as ‘Slingshot,’ will allow users to send short video messages and photos. If you are thinking it might be integrated with any of the social networks other application, then it is not the case, as the report says that it will not be integrated with its other applications, such as Facebook Messenger.
Facebook has tried acquiring Snapchat for $3 billion, late last year, but its offer was turned down. This could be the motivation to build its own competitor. Financial Times claims that the app could be launched as early as this month, but considering the fact that there is no official confirmation, it is quite possible that Slingshot may never see the light of day.
