DJI is venturing into the portable power station market in the US and Europe, introducing the Power 1000 and Power 500 models tailored for home users and travelers. Originally launched in China at the close of last year, these devices serve to power small appliances or charge gadgets such as laptops and drones, complemented by the ability to harness solar energy for on-the-go power.
Weighing 13kg (29 pounds), the Power 1000 boasts a 1,024 Wh capacity and can deliver up to 2,200W output. This capacity enables it to power a microwave oven for approximately 1.3 hours, sustain a car refrigerator for 19 hours, or recharge a drone up to 12 times. On the other hand, the Power 500, weighing 7.3 kg (16.3 pounds), offers 512 Wh capacity and 1,000W output at half the price of its larger counterpart.
The Power 1000 supports 1200W fast recharge or 600W standard recharging, while the Power 500 facilitates 540W and 270W recharging options. Both models can undergo fast-charging, reaching a full battery in 70 minutes or 80 percent charge in just 50 minutes. Equipped with standard AC plugs, they also feature dual USB-C PD output ports capable of 140W/100W charging, adequate for most laptops.
Although the market already hosts various competitors such as Jackery, Bluetti, and Anker, DJI positions its power stations as optimal solutions for charging its drones and other products. While initially launched in China, these devices are now accessible in the US via platforms like Amazon, albeit initially through grey market channels.
The Power 1000 is currently available for purchase at DJI’s store for $1,000, while the Power 500 is priced at $500. Additionally, customers can acquire a 120W Zignes solar panel for $299. For the latter option, compatibility with DJI’s Power Solar Panel Adapter Module or DJI Power Car Power Outlet to SDC Power Cable is necessary.
