The reliance on video chats had been increased rapidly throughout the pandemic. Many video conferencing companies improved their platforms regularly and innovatively to attract people to its’ platforms. These real-time video chats are now being slowly taken over by asynchronous video platforms.

Asynchronous video refers to video chats that don’t happen in real-time. It allows you to send video messages and the receiver can respond to them during their free time. Many companies are encouraging their employees to use this method of communication for things that are considered too hard for e-mails to convey.

The software and cloud giant Cisco is now introducing an asynchronous video platform called Vidcast. It comes under the company’s project called Webex Leap. More details on the platform were shared by Omar Tawakol, VP of Cisco and GM of Webex growth in one of his interviews with VentureBeat

He said that they aim for “time compression” with the use of the platform. It will also allow people from different time zones to be connected more effectively. On answering a question about whether the platform is an alternative for popular video conferencing platforms he told that it will act as a supplement for these popular platforms.
