Asus has entered into the Indian market by launching four devices. These include three Zenfone series smartphones – Zenfone 4, Zenfone 5 and Zenfone 6. The fourth device is Fonepad 7. The Asus ZenFone devices include the new ZenUI skin on top of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean (all three devices will be upgradeable to Android 4.4 KitKat).
The Zenfone 4 features a 4-inch WVGA TFT display, 1.2GHz Intel’s Atom Z2520 processor, 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage that can be extended with a microSD card slot up to 64GB. It also features a 5-megapixel camera and a 1,600mAh battery. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct and Bluetooth 4.0. It supports dual micro-SIM card slots. The Zenfone 4 is priced at Rs 5,999.
The Zenfone 5, as the name indicates has a 5-inch display with 720p resolution, 1.6GHz Intel’s Atom Z2560 processor, 2GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory. The phone has a new feature called PixelMaster camera, which registers up to 400 percent brighter photos and videos in low-light conditions by reducing the resolution. It has an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front facing camera and a 2,110mAh battery. Connectivity options are the same as Zenofone 4. The Zenfone 5 is priced at Rs 9,999.
The Zenfone 6 has a 6-inch 720p display and 2GHz Intel Atom Z2580 processor. It will come in 8GB and 16GB variants with 1GB or 2GB of RAM. Other features include 13-megapixel f/2.0 PixelMaster rear camera, a 2-megapixel front camera and a 3,230mAh battery. The Zenfone 6 is priced at Rs 16,999.
Lastly, the FonePad 7 features a similar 7-inch 1280×800 pixel display. It is powered by a 1.8GHz Intel Atom Z3560 processor, 1GB RAM and microSD card slot for memory expansion up to 32 GB. It supports 3G network and dual-SIM slots. It also has a 5-megapixel rear and 2-megapixel front-facing cameras. The phone features ASUS SonicMaster audio with dual front speakers. It runs Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box. The pricing of Fonepad 7 hasn’t been announced.
