Apple Maps can be called an alternative to Google Maps. The app is now following the latter’s path in adding a built-in rating system. The feature was available since the release of iOS 14 but was restricted to countries like Japan and Australia. It is now made available in the US and Canada as MacRumors points out. It allows users to review restaurants, businesses, and some other locations where people usually like to visit.

The rating uses a thumbs up or down system. On tapping the icon, the user will be led to a secondary interface. The user will be asked to share your thoughts on various aspects of the business or restaurant that the user reviewed. For example, if it is a restaurant, then the user will be asked about the food and customer service. The panel also lets the user upload their photo to a listing.

The Verge has reported that the app will also ask the users to add suggestions based on their device history. The users’ names won’t be added to any ratings they make and the Maps will ask suggestions on the basis of the analysis it does on-device. The app doesn’t allow a written review now. However, this feature may be the first step towards a more enhanced review system like that of Google Maps. It may take some time for Apple Maps to reach there.
