Adobe has made available its most popular image editing software Lightroom to iPad. The mobile version of the Lightroom brings much of the desktop version’s functionality to the tablet. It has touch-friendly interface that swaps mouse clicks for taps and swipes; and supports both landscape and portrait orientations. To select or reject images, you can flick up or down and tapping twice will cycle you through metadata. The edited images will then be sent to the cloud and to any other Lightroom apps that you’ve signed into. This means that the changes made to an image in Lightroom mobile will appear in your desktop or laptop and vice-versa.

Lightroom Mobile gives you Smart Previews of compressed raw images in your device. This means that the images are brought down to 2,560 pixels at the longest end, so they’re around 1-2 megabytes in size. The RAW frames remains on your desktop or a server. The mobile app allows you to tweak settings such as color temperature, exposure, highlights and clarity. It will also let you tap to select a white point or pull up the untouched version at any time by tapping the screen with three fingers. Images sync over WiFi or cellular connection. The app is available today for iPad 2 or later running iOS 7 or higher. The iPad app is available for free, but requires the user to have a Creative Cloud subscription that includes Lightroom to take full advantage.
